ABOUT 709 FREQ
Hey, I’m Tyson. Welcome to 709 Frequency.
709 Frequency started with me trying to make sense of the noise in my own head.
I’ve always been drawn to music, design, nostalgia, Newfoundland culture, weird ideas, dark humour and anything that makes you stop for a second and think, “What the hell is this?”
What started as a creative outlet slowly turned into something much bigger.
I design and create everything behind 709 Frequency from my little corner of Newfoundland. From the graphics and apparel to the music, concepts, visuals and all the strange little ideas that somehow become part of the brand.
There’s no big team behind this. It’s me, my creativity, a lot of late nights, probably too much overthinking and my husband helping me keep everything moving.
Why 709 Frequency?
For me, 709 Frequency is more than a clothing brand.
It’s a state of mind.
It’s anxiety, nostalgia, humour, healing, music, chaos, Newfoundland culture and all the things we don't always know how to put into words.
Some days you're dancing around the kitchen.
Some days you're crying on the dancefloor.
Some days you're questioning everything.
And sometimes you just need to yell WHADDA YA AT? and keep going.
I wanted to create something where people could see a piece of themselves in what I make.
Something that doesn't take itself too seriously.
Something a little weird.
Something a little uncomfortable.
Something honest.
The Newfoundland part
I’m proud of where I come from and Newfoundland is baked into everything I create.
The humour. The sayings. The stories. The salt air. The kitchen parties. The 709. The strange little things only a Newfoundlander would understand.
I take those pieces of home and mix them with everything else rattling around in my brain.
Sometimes that becomes a hoodie.
Sometimes it becomes a song.
Sometimes it becomes an absolutely unhinged idea that somehow works.
That's the fun of it.
More than clothes
709 Frequency has grown beyond apparel.
I've been creating music, building weird little worlds, developing concepts, experimenting with visuals and turning ideas into things I never expected to make.
My music and my clothing exist in the same universe.
They're both ways of getting things out of my head and putting them somewhere other people can experience them and honestly, that's what keeps me creating.
No judgement. Just frequency.
I don't want 709 Frequency to tell you who you're supposed to be.
Wear what makes you laugh.
Wear what makes you feel seen.
Wear something because it reminds you of home.
Turn the music up.
Be weird.
Be loud.
Be quiet.
Cry if you need to.
Dance if you want to.
Question everything.
And don't worry so much about fitting into somebody else's frequency.
Wear your frequency.
